The MAX5977AETP+ is a 1V to 16V, single channel, hot swap controllers with precision current sensing output in 20 pin TQFN package. During the initial insertion, the hot swap controller limits the inrush current from damaging board or from shorting out backplane. When the input voltage is above undervoltage threshold and below overvoltage threshold, a 5µA current source powered from the internal 5V charge pump drives the gate of an external N-channel MOSFET, providing a slow turn-on response. An internal current-sense amplifier in IC monitors current across an external shunt resistor, providing current sensing for wide input sense voltage range. The devices provide two levels of overcurrent circuit breaker protections. A calibration mode allows further calibration of the integrated transconductance amplifier for production testing of final design. It is used in servers, storage systems, network switches and routers, general hot swap applications.

- Full scale error of ±10% of 10mV full scale O/P (2mV <lt/> (VIN - VSENSE) <lt/> 10mV (-40 ≤ TA ≤ +85°C))
- Combined gain and offset accuracy of 125µA (set VIN-VSENSE=50mV, VCSOUT=25mV (-40 ≤ TA ≤ +85°C))
