MAX232ID

The MAX232ID is a dual EIA-232 drivers/receiver in 16 pin SOIC package. This device includes a capacitive voltage generator to supply TIA/EIA-232-F voltage levels from single 5V supply. Each receiver converts TIA/EIA-232-F inputs to 5V TTL/CMOS levels. The MAX232 has typical threshold of 1.3V, typical hysteresis of 0.5V and can accept ±30V inputs. Each driver converts TTL/CMOS input levels into TIA/EIA-232-F levels.

• Meets or exceeds TIA/EIA-232-F and ITU recommendation V.28
• Operates from single 5V power supply with 1µF charge pump capacitors
• Operates up to 120Kbit/s
• Supply voltage range from 4.5V to 5.5V
• Two drivers and two receivers
• Low supply current is 8mA
• ESD protection exceeds JESD 22
• Operating temperature range from -40°C to 85°C

Warnings

This device has limited built-in ESD protection. The leads should be shorted together or device placed in conductive foam during storage or handling to prevent electrostatic damage to the MOS gates.
